New Peterson Metra Stop Gets $15M In State Budget But Wheels Not Moving Yet

Five years after a new Metra stop in Edgewater was announced, the state budget includes some "potentially very good news" for Far North Side commuters — $15 million for the long-awaited stop.

The project had been funded through the Build Illinois Bond Fund, but put on hold and de-funded during the budget impasse that began in 2015.

Glenwood Greenway Reverse Bike Lane

Cyclists on the Far North Side will have a slower-paced, more family-friendly route after a bike lane is installed on Glenwood Avenue this week.

Dubbed the "Glenwood Greenway," the route takes southbound cyclists from Ridge Avenue to just past Foster Avenue via Glenwood Avenue, a one-way northbound street.

Beginning Tuesday, if weather permits, crews will be out painting the green lane, adding signs and shifting around a few parking spaces, 48th Ward Ald. Harry Osterman told residents in an email last week.

Chicago Curfew Law

On July 28, 2011 The Chicago City Council passed a curfew that moves the time up for children. The weekday curfew for minors, age 12-16, is 10 p.m.-6 a.m., while the weekend schedule for this age range is 11 p.m.-6 a.m. Weekday curfew hours for minors under age 12 is 8:30 p.m-6 a.m., and weekends hours for this group are 9 p.m.-6 a.m.

Please keep your children safe by keeping them home during these times. If you are not out surpervising your underage children during these times, the police may be called and fines may be issued.
