Residential Permit Parking Coming to a Street Near You!

Effective June 3rd, 2024, if you live north of Peterson and south of Granville between Leavitt Street and Clark Street, you will be in a new Residential Permit Parking (RPP) Zone.

To purchase a City Sticker with a Zone number, you can go to a City Clerk location (at City Hall or 5430 W Gale St) or purchase online through the Clerk’s EZBuy system. You may also purchase through a third-party currency exchange, but we recommend calling ahead!

Peterson/Ridge Metra Station Will Open on May 20th!

The station opening will include four new trains that will offer weekday service on the UP North Line. These added trains will begin service on May 20th, and fill gaps in rush hour service to provide more reliable transit options during those times and reduce crowding on rush hours trains. West Ridge’s Bright And Bold New Library Now Open, With Attached Affordable Housing For Seniors Coming Soon

West Ridge’s highly-anticipated new public library is now open to the public.

The Northtown Branch Library, 6800 N. Western Ave., replaces the former neighborhood library on California Avenue. The library will soon be coupled with an affordable housing complex for seniors, dubbed the Northtown Apartments. The apartments are still under construction, but 44 one-bedroom senior housing units are expected to be ready later this spring.

New Peterson Metra Stop Gets $15M In State Budget But Wheels Not Moving Yet

Five years after a new Metra stop in Edgewater was announced, the state budget includes some "potentially very good news" for Far North Side commuters — $15 million for the long-awaited stop.

The project had been funded through the Build Illinois Bond Fund, but put on hold and de-funded during the budget impasse that began in 2015.
